Best Christmas Lights Display Ever

This has to be the raddest display of Christmas lights I have ever seen. Timing the lights to a cool track of music, this house does a light show just in time for the holidays.

I kid you now, this Christmas light show may just be the coolest thing I have ever seen.

YOUR NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS...I just heard from a friend of mine that the house was vandalized last night causing damages to the tune of $4000. I hope the saying "What comes around, goes around" is true in this case.
User: seacoastkayak Posted 928 days ago

I live in the town that this house is in (Raymond, NH) and it is AWESOME...I'm glad you have a chance to see this little video clip, but to sit in front of the house and see it is really something.

So I found this link to a very impressive light display, and I am left feeling nearly embarrassed. Having served a 18 month tour in Vietnam in 1968-69, I am ashamed to be even remotely associated with this fellow so offended by the Peace Symbol.

I served my country humbly and proudly. Mr. PBR Sailor, I hope you learn some tact and the ability to be humble. Did your time in service teach you nothing? Try to have a little respect for your fellow countrymen. Remember, we served in order to protect freedom. And that includes freedoms we may or may not agree with.

Any respect you might have earned through your service, you have lost through your lack of decorum.

pbrsailor:
While I admit I myself have not been in the military, my father has also gone through the vietnam war, and every roommate I've ever had has been in one branch of the military. I've seen my dad's eyes glaze over when remembering the things that went on. I've watched the way his hands start getting tense when he would try to tell stories of the encounters he had, the scary nights, the noise, the friends he made, and worse, the friends he lost.

I understand your feelings about the peace sign, and from your era, no, you're not wrong. But you need to bear in mind that symbols, although maybe have been created for one purpose, change as the years go by, based on new generations, and society's views. They can be thought of as better, skewed into something worse, and sometimes changed altogether. Pentagrams for example are widely believed to be the sign of the devil. They are not, unless they are upside down. Rightside up they represent different things to different people, among which is nothing more than a unitarian belief. A simple cross also, while a strong christian and catholic symbol can be altered into something 100% opposite...by turning it upside down. The peace sign, while again I understand your animosity towards it, has also changed over the years to what we, the first, second, and third generation, feel it means to us. I personally don't sport the symbol around, just because it's not my style. I think as a country, you **** with us, we'll **** you harder. However, I would stay out of war for as long as possible, and avoid it whenever possible. In short, only fight as a last resort. So yes, you could say I'm anti-war. That doesn't mean that I think we should "give up" right in the middle of the war. Anti-war doesn't mean that we should never fight, ever, and just let other countries have their cake and eat it too, that's ridiculous and would result in our demise. What it means is that again, we fight as a last resort, and we don't stick around doing pidly crap that doesn't achieve what our end goal is. We go, we strike, we finish, period. That's anti-war.

The peace symbol is not, today, an american coward. It's a 1 picture way of telling people, "Hey man, let's not fight."

I do want to say thank you for fighting for my freedoms, I enjoy them on a daily basis (well, except when I go to work, I swear my supervisor is a closet nazi) And without people like you who served our country, our freedoms would be lost. I do appreciate you, and all your military brethren.

But as a fighter for freedom, allow people to express themselves within their own freedoms that you helped provide. And in no way am I saying that you aren't entitled to your opinion, if you don't like the peace symbol, by all means, don't like it, but to say that someone shouldn't have that because it conflicts with christmas is a bit of an obtuse view. Both are opinions, one that peace is a good thing, the other that christmas is celebrated in light of Jesus birth. How would you feel if you had an entire military portrayal on display, of people you knew and cared about, and you had a christmas tree up next to them, and someone said, "That christmas tree completely undermines the integrity of the military display. It's a mockery, and it needs to be cut out." You wouldn't be too happy, because you're displaying what is close to your heart, which is what the person in this video did.

Allow for individual tastes, and freedom of expression. It's what seperates America from the rest of the world.

Alright everybody, shut up on the damn peace sign. It is not that big of deal.

I see both sides of the issue...

is it right to mix political symbols with a holiday that is not political?

The peace symbol (☮) was designed and completed February 21, 1958 by Gerald Holtom, a commercial designer and artist in Britain. He had been commissioned by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament to design a symbol for use at an Easter march to Canterbury Cathedral in protest against the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment at Aldermaston in England.

The symbol itself is a combination of the semaphore signals for the letters "N" and "D", standing for Nuclear Disarmament. In semaphore the letter "N" is formed by a person holding two flags in an upside-down "V", and the letter "D" is formed by holding one flag pointed straight up and the other pointed straight down.

The fact that the symbol resembles a bird's foot in a circle gave rise to alternative interpretations, ranging from plain mockery of "crow's foot" and "American Chicken" (a hint that peace is for cowards) to a number of occult meanings.

Complaints have been made, lets end the discussion there.

Going to or not going to Vietnam, by the way, was influenced by the fact there was a draft going on at the time. What's a draft you wonder? Look it up, moron.

Men had but few choices during my time being of draft age - among them were school, medical, volunteer, be drafted, chicken out and go to Canada or go to jail. Sex change operations could be filed under several of those topics.

And what's this got to do with the FOOTPRINT OF THE AMERICAN CHICKEN?
User: pbrsailor Posted 939 days ago

How dumb a question was that - does our being in Iraq have anything to do with oil.... ? Hell yes, we're fighting for oil! Just try to do ANYTHING in our lives without OIL. That is, unless you live in a cardboard box or Dumpster.

And guess who's next in line to go to war for oil - CHINA! Where do you suppose they will be getting the energy needed to make all those products they ship over here? Bamboo? Hydro-electric? Get real. Jesus H. Frog!

For the true, honest and patriotic Americans ; you may skip over this or read for you amusement. This applies to and is only in response to a few misguided fools who are blowing hot air in an attempt to justify a cowardly position and try to shift blame to those who actually DID go in harms way. It is not for us to reason why --- It is ours to do or die.

LIBS.... The fighting I did in Vietnam was at the orders and direction of our leaders (or what passed for leaders - LBJ and Company). I didn't set policy. Questioning it wasn't worth the effort. If you think for one minute I WANTED to go -- you're dumber than you let on. There was nothing in that rat infested country worth going over there to save in the first place, in my estimation, but orders is orders, Bucky. POLITICIANS are the enemy.

My goal, and the goal of every other MAN I had the honor to serve with was to get HOME, in one piece, in something other than a body bag. Anybody who shot at me was no friend of mine (a philosophy I still hold near and dear) ... but the idiots in charge (LBJ etc) put "Rules of Engagement" in our faces - otherwise we might have actually won the stinking "conflict." Remember, it wasn't a war, was it? Card Carrying Commie People (CCCP aka Liberals) love to rag on anybody who actually has a spine or backbone - it's what I've come to expect. And, as to the Indian dude with a chip on his shoulder - how far back does one have to go be a "native" American? 100 years? 200 years? 1000 years? 2000 years?? Go back far enough and nobody is "native"... Kinda brings into play that Oriental Skull shape of yours, huh? (If I remember my Anthropology, there are only three skull shapes, boys and girls; Caucazoid, Negroid and Mongoloid - no "Indianzoid"). No doubt this won't be accepted EITHER. Heritage aside (by the way - I KNOW all the names in my ancestory), I'm ALL American - biologically, ideologically and patriotically. Being born here as were my parents and grandparents pretty much makes me a native - a concept lost on some.
But to answer the question; BOTH. Patrol Boat, River AND our beer of choice was indeed Pabst Blue Ribbon. Ba Moui Ba was liquid sewage! Gag. ¿Ong beit? My boat was 31RP68112. Still have doubts? Tango Sierra.
What's with those lame-brains hiding behind their computer screens calling me or others names... again, it's what I've come to expect from the drug damaged gene pool: Noise, just noise... like static. No intellegence. Gawd, get a life! Try one that doesn't rely on food stamps.

SEE just how far Card Carrying Liberals take this stuff - all started by their OVER-REACTION to my original comment and OPINION about some dumb symbol which I feel represents the FOOTPRINT OF THE AMERICAN CHICKEN. It still does, in my opinion and that's that. Goodnight,
Sierra hotel india tango hotel echo alpha delta sierra.

Hey PBR,

I'm just curious what fighting in Vietnam had to do with ensuring Americans' freedoms? I'm pretty sure that Vietnam was of no threat to the US. As far as I know, the only reason the US fought against North Vietnam was to stop them from forming a communist government over North and South Vietnam. What that has to do with American freedom, I don't know. I guess America has always liked playing the World Police. Maybe you should have asked why you were fighting before you decided to go over there because obviously you were misled by somebody.

And the war in Iraq has just as little to do with American freedom, unless you consider oil to be freedom.

What a great display. I wish I had the cash to do something like this!

Being a vet who actually spent time in the Gulf and who finds the current administration's tactics to be abhorrent misuses of military force (not to mention that, yes, I am a pinko commie liberal and a half), I have half a mind to tell the vast majority of you to shut the hell up. By saying one hates the war, one is not saying that one hates those fighting that war. My liberal friends who have attempted to bash the troops themselves (they are extremely rare, by the way) are forced to listen to an extended lecture about recruiting that targets the poor and minority populations, the underhanded tactics they employ and the sensation I heard so many fellow soldiers speak of in which they felt "stuck and incapable of moving on" without some guide, which the military (sort of) provided.

So, my question to those who are extremely anti-peace whatever the hell: would you have the audacity to call me, one of those people who "defended freedom" in Iraq, a "coward" because I now make sure to sport a small peace button on my jacket at all times?

And I swear, any of you who are Bush supporting individuals and are able-bodied and have NOT offered to sign up for the military are far more cowardly than a liberal who opts to sport a peace button and not join out of personal political beliefs.

Now, to any vet who would call me a coward because I finished my tours and opted to get the hell out, wake up and get out of my face. With us or against us is beyond the realm of idiotic–the world isn’t so bloody black and white.

To the asshole pbrsailor: To bad so many great men were lost in vietnam and this scumbag lived. Chickenhawk n. A person enthusiastic about war, provided someone else fights it; particularly when that enthusiasm is undimmed by personal experience with war; most emphatically when that lack of experience came in spite of ample opportunity in that person’s youth.
ChickenHawks 2005: George Bush, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, Bill Bennett, Newt Gingrich, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Bill Oreilly, Joe Scarborough, Scooter Libby, Dennis Hastert and on and on………I’m willing to bet these are people that Pbsailor listens to. Have a Happy Holiday asshole.

Amazing light show.

Also,
All who believe the military fights for ‘freedom’,
I’ll start by saying that I have three brothers who have been or are currently in the military, two in the army, and one in the navy.
However, your collective concept of the purpose of “war” and “freedom”, interest me.
How again does ‘history’ account for the founding of this country? It should begin with Columbus’s arrogance; follow by his ignorance, yet rather it praises him for ‘finding’ American. I think that the natives living here knew where they were. Then, the timeline proceeds to Europeans fleeing to “American” for “freedom”. This depends on your perspective though, because I’m sure the other side saw it as “defecting”. Next, we have those who are herald in American History as founders, mutinying against their native country, Great Britain. However, if that were to happen to day wouldn’t it be dubbed treason? Then, the bloodlines those same mutineers proceeded to push the native people out of their homes and land, based on their belief of manifest destiny and conscience self-righteousness. Who was fighting for the freedom of blacks? Where was their chance at “freedom” early in this country, and in some cases still today (or is ok by you that they didn’t count then)? The Industrial Revolution only began to breed the process of outsourcing manufacturing jobs to countries that can pay their workers embarrassing wages (oh yeah, incase you missed it these are your American Car companies; what some people who have been posting failed to recognize is that the auto industry is a global market, to which American companies have been integrated, bought and sold within…(Hon)duhhhh).
I know one thing about freedom. My ancestors lived here and fought to preserve the places that they called their homes as they were being invaded by your ‘freedom fighters”. Now, in many cases in “his-story” we are portrayed as savages without souls, religion or civilization (this is changing slowly admitly, but I’m sure that’s only because there are liberals out there making everything ‘politically correct’)

PBR: You need a more sound education. Your incessant need for validation is saddening. It must be a true challenge to try to realize that you are indeed the puppet who’s genealogy would reflect that your strings have been being pulled by a clan of treasonous European invaders who slaughtered for greed and hierarchy, because they could follow rules in their native land. Still picking on people like your ancestors, eh.

Oh, yeah…I’m Native American. You haven’t fought for my people. Your kind fought us.

Sault Ste. Marie Tribal Member

PS. This will be my only post as I thought I could maintain objective, but became overrun with emotion…I need to be more tolerant too.

AWESOME light show! You all have turned this into a fiasco. Not surprising really. pbrsailor has the same right to his own opinion as everyone else. Leave the man alone already. It is always so funny to see liberals pounce all over others and tell people to \"shut up, it\'s a free country\". If that is the case, and we are ALL entitled to our opinions then why jump on pbrsailor for stating his? Can you possibly get any more contridictory?

Hi, y'all -

Carson's light display certainly is great! This is a trend setter, a leader in the Christmas celebration - I mean, 3/4 million hits on the search engine... THAT IS IMPRESSIVE! Next year the Chinese will have this thing marketed all for $29.95 - in the box. (it's a joke, twits!)

I am SO thrilled to see all the two-faced, under-educated, loud mouthed, counter-culture people making negative responses to my comments on this site... One dude summed it up - his life is just a party. Well, PARTY ON, dude; the socialists will "just" pay your way in life. And some others - they speak from one side of their mouths saying it's a free country and we're all entitled to our opinions, then slam me for doing so. Hmm. How's that supposed to work? Then there is the "proud" Navy wife... who says, "I will never and would never put down other former military or current military personal." Then turns around and does exactly that. So much for integrity. Apparently she's never heard her husband or other sailors "talking" -- unless the Navy has gone totally "pussy" my guess is their language is frequently more "harsh" than I've exhibited here (and I'll bet sleezy women are Topic #One - at least overseas). "Ain't" reality a trip? Then those self-proclaimed history experts try to give us a re-write of history. Oh yes, HAPPY PEARL HARBOR DAY - I guess it's supposed to be the day WE attacked Japen, right? Well, I say, WHO CARES? Any "hate" that some think I may have was bred by the socialist liberal liars in elected office - thank you very much. For those who doubt me or my credentials, tough cookies, boys and girls - I wore a black beret in the service of the United States Navy LONG BEFORE the US Army EVER adopted them as "standard issue". They wear them on the wrong side. I had to earn mine. And for those who DO know; my "ribbon" is cut and notched. Those who don't know - "Tango Sierra".
My apologies to the rest of you who put up with both sides of this "sierra hotel india tango"... it happens sometimes. And my hearty thanks to those TRUE AMERICANS who stood up for my opinions and feelings. As it should be; it's a FREE COUNTRY - therefore I feel it's STILL the Footprint of ALL CHICKENS (American or otherwise) with a BIG ZERO wrapped around it! Draft dodgers aren't Americans in my book and we had one for president! Arg. Watch the socialist weasels jump all over this one.....

If you truly believe there was a 'communist threat', you're a sucker. Fact is, Ho Chi Minh approached the US in 1954 asking for aid to liberate Vietnam from France. After being rejected by the US, UK and USSR he approached China who agreed to equip him with weopans and such. After Ho Chi Minh whooped the French military, they came crying to the US who agreed to send in special forces who managed to coorce a small number of personel into a coupe de tate. All you were fighting for was to keep a country under French control you twit. Communism wasn't even a factor. On a side note..it was terrible what some anti-war Vets did to the soldiers. I'm glad we dont do that today, even though this war is just as controversial, at least we can honor the sacrifice being laid out. The blame rests solely on the shoulders of this administration.
User: Kintero Posted 945 days ago

Excellent light show!!

on a side note:

If the peace sign means cowardice, then so be it.
Personally, I like it.
Guess that means I'm a liberal who doesn't blindly follow the gov't. Hey, if you choose to - who am I to judge?
Thanks to all vets for fighting for our country, I really appreciate it.
But to those who think they are "Fighting for peace" I have a question:
How the hell do you expect to acheive peace thru war?
User: shelby_thack Posted 946 days ago

Simply amazing light display! The music rocks as well. I just might go see TSO. And to pbrsailor - I am sorry you are so disturbed and full of hate (if you read your posts it is blatantly obivous you are). Let it go with the Peace symbol issue. Just enjoy the show. Whether you agree or disagree with the symbol is irrelevant - ignore it if it bothers you that much. This is America - everyone is entitled to their own belief/opinion on any issue/matter. We do not have to subscribe to YOUR belief.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!

PBRSAILOR.....you really had no right going off on me like that. Or anyone else. I will forgive you because I am an adult. I did not curse at you. I am a women...is that how you talk to everyone in your life?? You show total lack of intelligence speaking that way you do....such filth.
Everyone is intitled to their opinions. But enough is enough. There is so much name calling and insults. That's not what this whole thing was suppose to be about. But somehow the light show display has turned into a political debate and arguement.
We are all better than that. And yes, I am a VERY PROUD NAVY WIFE. I will never and would never put down other former military or current military personal. They have and are serving our country. Fighting for our freedom and all that we do. So it does make me ill that we are all sitting here arguing about all this. Can we not just respect that fact that this man did an awesome job with his light display. And if there is something in it that you don't like....just don't look.
We are adults. Tis the season and God Bless All.
User: navyandproud Posted 946 days ago

Perhaps we can accept that over the years the symbol has evolved to simply symbolize the concept of peace. Man also continues to evolve to be more loving….moving upward (teilhard de chardin). Perhaps we can let go and just enjoy the artistry. WWJD??

WOW!!! this is an awesome light display!! thank you for posting it for us all to see! i wish i could go check it out in person, but ny is a little too far away...

SIMPLY AWSOME! being in the special events business I can appreciate the work that goes behind putting together a this piece of art like this.
And PEOPLE...give it a rest with the peace symbol!
Y'all are so hung up on where it came from and what could it mean that you're missing the whole picture!
To the dude(s) that did this incredible piece of synchronization:
Follow what your heart tell you to do, and only listen to your soul!

Hey, BERZERKley (WITH a Z)...
I know you're still out there - did you find that stick I threw for you? Good boy. Sit. Drop -- I mean play -- dead.
With a Z - just like that moth-eaten commune that used to be a nice city. The one that even has their parking meters on welfare. Peoples Park is nothing more than a haven for drug dealers and diseased hookers. Which is YOUR favorite? Tell us, do you have a favorite park bench or do you prefer a cardboard box? Did you know that you can get free peanuts in Snell Hall on Thursdays? Sure you did - you know everything.

Finally, a worthy explanation of a symbols' origin from someone with apparent knowledge and no axe to grind. Thanks to "calumw" for the input on this debate.
So, what this means to me is that circular "peace" symbol is actually a 47 year old antiquated "Cold War" relic (1958) when paranoia ruled the day - "The Bomb" supposedly could happen at any time - bomb shelters were being built in backyards by people afraid ... all during PEACETIME (no war). IF indeed this symbol had it origins from semaphore, then I wonder how a Cross would have been symbolized; with a D and R, or a B and J (don't go there)? A big "U" on that one. A "clock" is more useful for learning semaphore than circles, as I remember. BUT - this settles the dispute for me - the symbol was originally intended to represent a group that was afraid... afraid of "The Bomb." Then it was STOLEN by another group that was afraid ... afraid of actually having to SERVE in our military... afraid to help our nation help our allies, hence MY opinion of them being chickensh*t cowards. What it has evolved into since is about the same except we no longer have the draft, so there is no threat to them. I think it is currently being used by lost souls looking to identify with something - like those idiots who want to look so different (with gross piercings or tattoos or whatever) that they end up looking the same. **** Back in the 60's when our MEN went to war, the WEENIES stayed behind in school (professional students in "political indoctrination centers" who's only purpose was to avoid the draft), somehow got "educated" (how many times did they take "Basket Weaving 101"?). Now they show up with a stack of degrees supposedly as "intellectuals", having changed from their unwashed, unkempt rags into business suits and run for public office. When the MEN came back, they went to WORK, built homes and families and now have to PAY for welfare bums, homeless trash and other consequences of the errors made by those "intellectuals" in office who socialized our country. WAY TO GO - COWARDS! **** That little drunken rat Ho Chi Minh was a pedaphile, by the way. **** Final thoughts:
When EVERYBODY is on welfare or relief programs - WHO will pay for it? Remember the fall of the Soviet Union...?? Think about it, everybody. MERRY CHRISTMAS to all believers.... we're "infidels" you know.

Fantastic display! Deeply worrying debate (if it can be called a debate) about the meaning of the peace symbol. This symbol has its origins in 1958 and was designed by Gerald Holtolm of Norfolk, England. It incorporates the semaphore symbols for N and D and represents Nuclear Disarmament. It was first used by the Direct Action Committee Against Nuclear War, an organisation that combined with others to form the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. The circle is an important part of the symbol. It is true that removing the circle leaves a shape similar to an inverted Algiz rune (the rune representing protection but turned upside down). This is an unfortunate coincidence and, since the circle is part of the symbol (circles being the key to learning semaphore) and considering the slight difference in shapes, this should not be used to detract from the symbol's intended meaning. Since a similar post to this was shot down for lack of sources I would like to include one on the symbols history, one on semaphore and one on runic symbols. Decide for yourself what this symbol should represent to you. Remember that everyone is entitled to their opinion and the right to express it.

Peace Symbol

Enjoy your holidays

RIGHT YOU ARE about the Swastika. It was also used by some American Indian tribe prior to WWII. So, who gets to claim it? The footprint of the American Chicken may have been other things to other people, but to me it was the symbol of the idiots who spat in the faces of returning GIs during the Vietnam era... veterans who put it all on the line for somebody else. They had spent a year looking forward to returning home, that is, until they got this sort of bullsh*t "welcome" from that disrespectful bunch. It WASN'T our fault that we got sent over there. Why did people have to sh*t on us when we got home? THAT is what that symbol means to me - the sign of disrespectful assholes. The blame was the idiots who sent us to Vietnam ... KENNEDY and JOHNSON ... Don't blame "Tricky Dick" - he brought us home! The moronic masses convinced the powers that were in place to BRING HOME THE TROOPS. Nixon did this. It was the SOUTH Vietnamese who lost their own country because they didn't have the will to fight on their own. Basically we abandoned them... JUST LIKE what the bleeding heart left wing looney liberals want us to do in IRAQ right now. Should all our efforts thus far be for naught? I don't think so. I think we need to kick the "imbedded reporters" out of combat units then let "our boys" win.... THEN we can leave and let the Iraqi's keep THEIR own damn peace.
Granted, we probably didn't need to go into Iraq but those first few days of the war were the BEST TV I've seen in years - watching the bombing of Baghdad. NOTHING Hollywood has ever done tops that in my book. The flashes, the noise... EXCELLENT VIEWING.

TSO concert? Their music is far out, but No thanks, I could buy their CD and play it at home and not have to have idots sitting around me clapping, singing or farting.
(I'll do that myself)

Dude, seriously, lay off the Vietnam vet. The peace symbol DOES have negative connotations, and I did not like it when it appeared in the video either. Peace symbol currently means: "Succumb, rather than fight for freedom" and if there is one thing that trumps peace it is freedom. Oh, and Merry Christmas! Great light show.

Gee Herr Pdrsailor, I still don't believe you. I guess Senator Kerry got his Silver Star and Purple Hearts because he wasn't in the middle of things like you were. I guess they must have handed those out like cracker jack prizes, huh? No one is pulling any strings; I can think for myself thank you. The only thing being pulled is the wool you are pulling over your own eyes. Obviously you don't like the way things are run, I suggest YOU should leave. That dirty coward liberal Abraham Lincioln said it's the duty of every American to change the government if they don't like the way its run. I don't like goosetepping to the current Administration, so I disagree with it..as is my Right, dip sh*t. (You started the name calling...) So why don't you just go to your local VFW, get drunk on your ass, and reminisce about the War you couldn't even win? Say whatever you want about me(Oh, and by the way numb nuts, it's Berserkley no z), I don't care any more. I'm tired of you and fascist morons like you. Good bye, and Merry Christmas (gee, the Bible. Another Book you've obviously never read.)

This is pretty cool and TSO is awesome. Amazing song. I probably wouldn't be making a comment right now if it weren't for the previous ones though. Some pissed me off so I figured I'd throw my two cents in as well. Like some of you, I didn't care much for the peace sign. Stereotypically speaking, in today's society it usually represents an anti-war, anti-bush, liberal sentiment. Whether this is how the owner of the house feels, I don't know. I hope it isn't, because that standpoint is very sad. War is not a good thing, and I hate it as much as the next person, but like it or not we are in one and we need to support our president and our troops. Islamo-fascism needs to be stopped. These people would have all Americans dead, and instead of fighting it on our soil, we brought it to them - not until after the loss of thousands on 9-11 of course. Personally, I believe that we need to re-enact the Sedition Act - and soon. The liberal media is driving this great nation apart and they should be arrested. There are far too many brainwashed and uninformed people in this country. We need more people like pbrsailor. Everywhere I turn at the college I attend, I see people sporting peace signs and shirts that say, "Not my president". Well Bush IS your president, so accept it and deal with it or get out. I really didn't want this comment to be so political, I just wanted to say that I like the light and music display and thank pbrsailor for being a good American. God bless the veterans and those fighting. Merry Christmas.

Gentlemen, ladies: I rest my case. I simply offer background along with good wishes and somehow I am 'totally bent out' that a symbol can 'do that' to me. hehehe Do what? And what does some music group have to do with it? As for the meaning, 'as far as I know' is a really solid basis, isn't it? P.S. tell the Navaho about how they should see the swastika. Many other cultures see it as they have for centuries, so I don't think the modern concept is universal.
Again, peace out, OK? 'Tis the season ...
User: lopederueda Posted 947 days ago

Wow, totally bent out by the peace sign. It's sad that a symbol can do that to you. After all that sign is old and as far as I know was originally used by the British "ban the bomb" movement of the 50's. Then again, the swastika, which is now totally identified with nazis and white supremacists, was used by many cultures throughout the past 3,000 years to represent life, sun, power, strength, and good luck. Sorry it bummed you out. TSO uses it at their concerts too, so I guess you wouldn't want to go to one of those.

'Communism was a 'propaganda ploy'?? The 'peace (read I give up entirely and would rather be French, who, BTW, were the ones who messed up 'Nam --and Haiti -- in the first place) symbol' represents 'love and unification'?? Yikes?

Please see my note below on the TRUE meaning of the inverted symbol you go on about. I don't know what you've done to preserve my freedoms, but I served in OCCUPIED West Berlin - among other places overseas while the imaginary Communists were in control and both my brother and brother-in-law served proudly in 'Nam, unlike the people you say you know. Perhaps it would serve you well to read other things than leftist stuff and look for another set of friends so you can get some balance.

In any case, be well and good and safe! SOMEone is looking out for you while you rattle on.
User: lopederueda Posted 947 days ago

Yeah, right. Whatever.
(and the 9/11 attacks were to free us, too, huh?)
User: pbrsailor Posted 947 days ago

We now know that Vietnam was based on lies and fabrications. The Tonkin Gulf Incident and Communism were propaganda tactics used to bolster supp-ort. Propaganda tactics not unlike Hitlers. The peace symbol is a symbol of love and unification. By opposing it you expose your hatred for humanity.

Ho CHi Minh was fighting for his countries Independence. And he won at the cost of over 1 million Vietnamese lives, bless him. And of all the Nam vets I know, none our proud of why they went there.

Guess what!!! I just read an article on this guy and this display, it says that the musical accompaniment is broadcast over a low-power radio station so that it is only audible to visitors tuned in to the correct frquency and doesn't disturb the neighbors. So everyone complaining that you wouldn't want to be his neighbours... it ain't no thang!!! article here: http://www.snopes.com/photos/arts/xmaslights.asp

Berzerkely ---
Yeah, I guess I really stepped in it this time, didn't I? (People should curb their dogs). Nothing quite as disgusting as steppeing in chickensh*t. I assure you, I was indeed in the US Navy - IN Vietnam (not just near it) - was the commander of my patrol boat (not the kind that your Comrade Kerry was on) and I did see REAL action. I'm not bragging about it, I'm merely pointing out these facts in situations such as this - where chickensh*t people think they know so much about what went on over there need to be pointed out that REAL PEOPLE served, and that what they see in the mainstream news media is far from REALITY or any factual content. Whether I am real to you or not is your problem , not mine. Whether you care to lambaste me with your diatribe of inconsequential statements or opinions is of no concern to me. I not ashamed of what I did or what I am. Many of my Vietnam photos are posted on other web sites. I only mention this because so many left wing loonies have not a clue about anything remotely associated with reality. I wonder, and maybe you can help me understand this; Do you get your socialist ideas by overhead strings or from some guy's hand up your ..... back?? (Puppets).
Wait until you get a load of my next comment - it is my opinion that wearing the so called "peace symbol" tells the world that the wearer is a chickensh*t coward. It is perfectly within their rights - as is sticking an American Flag decal on the window of a Honduh or other foreign make car. It's people's right to do so. The American gene-pool has been irreparably damaged by the dope smoking drug culture of the 60's (of which I was NOT a part) --- not you, OF COURSE.

I'm not going to wish anything on you, good or bad. Obviously any ideas you have were planted in what passes for a mind by others and represent no original thinking on your part..... later dude.
(oh yes, I didn't need the dictionary for any of this). PBR
User: pbrsailor Posted 947 days ago

pbrsailor, you are a total coward and as a washout as an American. All of the Real Americans that I know who fought in Vietnam and Korea and WWII do not brag about what they've done or how great they are or what cowards the people who didn't go were. They did their job and came home. They're proud of what they did, but they've moved on with their lives. I doubt that you were ever anywhere outside of the United States during your tour of duty, if you were ever even in the Military. And why don't you do something different than the Reich Wing, and actually READ something? You can start with a dictionary. Look up the difference the words "Pacificism" and "Cowardice". So why don't you just shut up, have a Merry Christmas, and get on with YOUR life?
User: berserkley Posted 947 days ago

Si Vis Pacem para bellum!!

BTW, this is pretty cool. But if I were a neighbour, Id have to complain
User: nomadikk Posted 947 days ago

First, let me say it is totally awesome display and great music. However, I'm sorry you all seem to be so uninformed (naive?) about the so-called 'peace symbol'. It is nothing more than an ancient Rune inverted (that means turned upside down). In its original form it stands for all things good and beneficial; i.e., good health, prosperity, good friends, enjoyable company, truth, security, honesty; well, you get the picture. Inverted (as worn by those who don't know better) it stands for all things hurtful: i.e., illness, insecurity, vulnerability, dishonesty, delusion, lies; I think you get that, too. You're welcome to put it in the display if you wish, just so you know what you're saying. In any case, true peace and happiness to all! It IS the season, isn't it?
User: lopederueda Posted 947 days ago

What morons bred this foul air? Let's see, there is SABAKI who thinks BUSH "murdered" 200,000 Iraqis... What a total falsehood backed up by NO FACTS what-so-ever. The seeds of communism and left wing radical horsesh*t is alive and well in this dunce; Sabaki -- DO YOU think it was okay for Saddam to kill off a bunch of Kurds? Or don't you have any evidence of that either? What about Hitler, Musollini, Stalin or Castro killing off their own people? You're a TOTAL moron.... go away, and take that stupid Footprint of the America Chicken with you! Go kiss Hillary or something equally disgusting like Bill....

"NAVYANDPROUD".... (what, you think you're the only one proud to be - or have been - Navy? Dictim de dicto? ) --- Another prime example of misplaced and alleged intelligence. The Navy ( Army, Marines or Air Force) tells us WHERE to go, WHAT to do and for HOW LONG --- we do it, right? I did, and I have NO regrets. I was the Captain of my boat - my crew did what was needed, we did our job and we ALL returned safe, alive and in one piece. PEACE is what's left AFTER we kick the crap out of the enemy and WIN! It was the "Idiots in Charge" who played their war cards and got us into wars in the first place (Kennedy, Johnson.... later Clinton and Bush). If you think (and I will cut you some slack on that concept) that I, or ANY of my fellow RIVER PATROL Vietnam Vetarans are anything but PROUD, BRAVE or REVERANT then you need to find another rock to hide under. I am not at all lonely, am not what is wrong with MY country, not at all ashamed of what I did or who I did it to, nor would I be afraid to answer the call of duty again should it come. I have MANY combat operations, combat patrols, firefights with the enemy (those are the ones shooting at us, in case you are still unaware), many confirmed kills, lots of "probable kills" and no regrets. I didn't want to go, but when called; DID!!!

If you have not PERSONALLY been there - shut the _ _ _ _ up! Look up the term "Sat Cong". ¿Cóng xoi, cong? Choi duc oui.

And finally, to BERZERKLEY.... Gawd, what can I say? Berzerkley, the last vestage of communism on the LEFT COAST. My father taught there (UCB) when it was still mostly human.

Nothing "political" about any of my comments - until provoked. It was the "counter-culture" commie bastards from the USSR (need I spell that out, too?) who fueled the fires of anti-war protests, who supplied and propagated the drug culture which in turn evolved into the current moronic liberal bullsh*t propaganda infecting this country.
These are facts - always ignored and denied by the socialist mantra factions, but (oddly) allowed in this country.

For those not willing to stand up for AMERICA as it was drafted, as it was formed and as it is written into law --- get the _ _ _ _ out! They shall receive the full scorn of all who are true patriots, serviceman or veterans.

Final words: None of the "people" mentioned above seem to know or understand the true definition of peace. I do. It's when WE (Americans) WIN - we do not give up and roll over -- that's what the french are for.

AMERICA.... F_ _K, YEAH!

Chao Ong, Chao Ba, Chao Co, Chao An ....
[so rong, earthrings]

Yes pbrsailor, the Peace symbol is totally innappropriate for Christmas...just like your idiotic political comments.
User: berserkley Posted 947 days ago

The video and music were awesome. Thanks for sharing. On another note to "pbrsailor"....you are such a sad person. And you define what is wrong in this country. You lead a very sad, lonely life if all you can do is put down others. Our men and women fight for your freedom and all that you are able to do on a daily basis. And you are so ungreatful. My husband is Active duty and I am very proud. I am proud for all that the men and women are doing over seas. Yes, many have died. But they knew the circumstances when they signed up. And that was a choice they made. For all of us. So thank God and Bless all.

BEautiful! The CD is on my Christmas list! The Trans-siberian Orchestra is awesome!

pbsailor, fyi, the Peace sign (which I wear at ALL times) was designed by the Citizens for Nuclear Disarmament), containing the letters CND. It was NOT designed by conscious objectors to vietman.

Peace to you, and to the souls of the innocent 200,000 Iraqi civilians bush murdered.
User: sabaki Posted 948 days ago

This display was the work of Carson Williams of Mason, Ohio, who spent about three hours sequencing the 88 Light-O-Rama channels that control the 16,000 Christmas lights in his 2004 holiday lighting spectacular. The musical accompaniment is broadcast over a low-power radio station so that it is only audible to visitors tuned in to the correct frquency and doesn't disturb the neighbors. (Info collected fromhttp://www.snopes.com/photos/arts/xmaslights.asp)
For sure this is just too cool! I've sent it to everyone I know and all the "unlucky" addresses I've found in forwards from my friends. LOL, Thanks so much for sharing this deLIGHTful clip!
User: tinkertoy Posted 948 days ago

real or not, the video is amazing! i question the REALness of it because the foreground does do some funky stuff... but hey, whatever... it is awesome. (i don't want to get into any discussion as to the realness of it... just my observation!) the music really gets one to movin' too! i saw this video before this link was sent to me.. someone else had sent me the whole video and i was able to watch full screen... WOW! now that was AWESOME! and PBR, get a life. this isn't the place for your soap box... for what purpose was it that you fought and killed for the USA, if you are going to be so intolerant of others who have the rights and freedoms that you fought for? Merry Christmasto you, PBR, and i hope that you can find some joy in life at some point. ~Bo

Want to have some real "sound" fun... on the PREVIOUS SCREEN, where there are two words "HERE" to access the video of this really cool display ... push the right "HERE" and then IMMEDIATELY push the left "HERE"... if your computer can handle it, it will play the Wizards of Winter twice... overlapped. Hold one by pushing pause to get then
"phases" but not in sync..... far out.
The only thing to add is one of those "sticky" Post-it" notes over that footprint of the American Chicken and it's perfect.
Victory is mine!
User: pbrsailor Posted 949 days ago

Knock yourselves out, dudes. I didn't make the Vietnam war, I didn't set policy. That's what the idiots-in-charge do... and has there ever been a "legal war"? To rewrite history is SO 21st century - reality and facts mean nothing. The so called "peace symbol" was an anti-war sign used by the cowards who burned their draft cards or left the country for Canada. And for you wet behind the ears kind - that isn't draft beer (but that was one of many of the mantra slogans used: "Draft Beer, not students").
Different strokes for different folks. If you didn't experience it, don't bitch about it. I HAVE been shot at, it 's not fun. AND I've shot back... oaky, that WAS fun, so - sue me for serving my country with Valor. Some of you may have to look that word up.
Enjoy your freedom - remember who PAID for it, and at what price.... the National Cemetery's are full of them.
FREEDOM ISN'T FREE, but the "dumb" part by the unappreciative or uneducated (going to school doesn't make one necessarilly, educated) is overstocked.
Maybe we should do like England and Australia: You don't like the way the government is run... get the (beep) out.
HA! Now then, have your tyrades at my expense, I still consider the 1960's vintage "peace symbol" a sign of the AMERICAN COWARD.... it's 45 years old, for Christ's sake - get something new (with fresh batteries).
Victory. PBR SAILOR (do you know what a PBR is?)
User: pbrsailor Posted 949 days ago

pbrsailor y are you triping about a PEACE SIGN? just enjoy a cool show without getting political, so what if they did! and about vietnom, it was an illegal war and last time I checked WE LOST, i do sympathize for what you have been through but that doesn't give you the right to ruin something not intended to make a politcal statement but share the enjoyment of christmas! man be happy! dont get offended at the little things! o well merry cristmas!! o ya I forgot awesome video!!! lol

This is one of the most awesome displays I have ever seen! KUDOS to the person(s) who worked so hard putting this together!
pbrsailor, you're a total jackass! The peace sign is NOT the print of a chicken, you idiot. It stands for peace, which in case you're not aware, is the opposite of war. Or are you one of those types that enjoyed your part in the war??? You mentioned Vietnam. That was a senseless war that the USA had no business getting involved in just like this Iraq war is. I think YOU are the one that needs to check themselves!

User: stormystevens Posted 949 days ago

pbrsailor, you are everything that is wrong with out country. It's admirable that you fought to defend our freedom, but having done that does not make you a wiser, smarter, more enlightened citizen whose opinion counts more than anyone elses. You don't have to like the peace sign - there are lots of people who resent the symbol of the cross, or the pentagram, or the initials "FUBU", and all they stand for. But the beauty of this country is that we all have a right to express ourselves using any dam* symbol we want to - we don't need your permission, or anyone elses. It's called religious freedom and freedom of speech, baby, and it protects us all....even party poopers like you. But you already know that, right? Because it's WHAT YOU WERE FIGHTING FOR WHEN YOU SERVED. It goes really well with a little tolerance. Like, you don't have to use the peace symbol. Nobody has asked you to display one at your house. But you could be TOLERANT of the diversity of personalities, beliefs and cultures in our country...that would go a long way towards actually CREATING peace, so people don't have to use symbols to ask for it.

Oh, and PS...I'm telling Santa you want some Prozac for Christmas. Make sure you're asleep before midnight, or he won't come!
User: mysbrightspot Posted 949 days ago

OK, WTF did PBRSailor have to go off on the peace sign like that? It's a FRIGGIN' PEACE SIGN!!! Peace, my brother. It does not represent a political statement and it is NOT inappropriate for Christmas. Thanks for defending our country - I really admire and appreciate that, but in the 21st century a peace sign does not represent cowards who don't want to go to war. I am so offended by your words. Peace....it's just a sign of peace. For cryin' out loud.

Aside from my insistent response to this - the light display was utterly amazing! I've never seen anything like it!! I only wish I could see it in person!
User: catscure Posted 949 days ago

This was outstanding! Best thing I ever seen in my entire life. Trans Siberian Orchestra was excellent! Yes, traffic on that street will be unbearable, but woth it. LOVE IT!!!
User: SummerWalk Posted 949 days ago

Addendum -
It was VETERANS like me, before me and AFTER ME who have won our AMERICAN FREEDOMS, and freedoms for other lands. Reality, what a concept...so often lost these days.
User: pbrsailor Posted 949 days ago

WAY COOL job of lighting. BUT, that FOOTPRINT OF THE AMERICAN CHICKEN has got to go. The so called "peace symbol" is a political statement, not a religious symboland is TOTALLY inappropriate for a Christmas (or Hanukkah) display. IT only represents the COWARDS of the Vietnam era "Hell no, we won't go" ... NOT peace. Jesus represents PEACE!
That "symbol" is an INSULT to all those who died in Vietnam and their families. It also insults our troops PROTECTING FREEDOMS in Iraq. I didn't want to go to Vietnam either, but I didn't chickensh.. out. When called I served, I went. I lost many friends over there. YES, War is to be avoided, but once in a war, there is only one viable way out... WIN. WIN! This "let's give up" attitude or the "bring the troops home now" stuff is for LOSERS. If you want to be a loser, go to france... and take that stupid symbol of the FOOTPRINT OF THE AMERICAN CHICKEN with you.
Want to wear or display a real PEACE SYMBOL? Display a CROSS or the STAR OF DAVID.
For those of us left, let's sit back and enjoy this fellow's marvelous display (keeping the cursor strategically placed over the offending section so as to not spoil the show).
GO NAVY --- Semper Fi --- Sat Cong!
And don't get all huffy back at me - it was ME and other VETERANS before me that have fought for and WON, in order to ENSURE YOUR FREEDOM AND PEACE.

This is the most amazing thing I have seen in a long time. The music reminds me of the Trans Siberian Orchestra, my son & I saw them last year and they are equally amazing. This house and the Orchestra belong together. If you like the music check our Transsiberianorchestra.com.

This person is likely a stage lighting pro and has a MIDI-controllable pro system. MIDI is musicians integrated digital interface; a simple program could 'play' the lights just like notes on a keyboard; with that equipment its relatively straighforward, but the programming must've taken hours if not days. Example of controller: http://www.nsicorp.com/NSI-Interactive/Content/cmlc128r.html
Incredible show, I went out and bought the TSO CD after I heard this (but haven't listened to much of the rest of it!)

Hello;
I'm going to send this out this year instead of Christmas cards!!! It cost a lot less & will be remembered forever!!!
IT ROCKS!!!!!!
User: chevy71 Posted 952 days ago

This is awesome! I was sent this via email and the very next day went to the TSO concert in Richmond. I didn't know the music and was VERY surprised when TSO played it and I recognized it from the light show! FYI their concert was wonderful and had an even better light show than the emailed Christmas House!!!!!!

If this person were my neighbor, I would blackjack him, drag him to the street and curbstomp him until he begged for death through a tootless and bloody maw.. then I would fulfill his request. Since he is not my neighbor, I think it's neat.
