There is a widely held opinion that political campaigning is more negative and unethical than it has ever been. Whether this is historically true or not, it is the subject of some debate. Politicians have long thrown punches at each other and the history of negative campaigning reaches back to the early days of this nation.
Negative political ads must work. Otherwise, politicians wouldnt keep using them year after year. You have to look at it this way, if it wasnt for the negative advertisements, majority of the nation would not know if a politician is corrupt or doing something wrong. Most American voters are not going to read every proposition on the ballot or spend countless hours researching a particular candidate.
